Thanks, Modette. You did a nice job of reporting. It sounds like you two had a good time. Did you get to brush the dustoff your German at Stovepipe Wells? Death Valley is a difficult place to visit weather wise. Late Febuary and early November are the nicest in the valley, but good luck getting there. I can't imagine Badwater in July. You two should get a tough guy award for that one.

I do not think Eric will ride with me again.

Yeah, I will not forget that heat, I been there when it was 90-100 plenty of times, but never thought 120-130 would be that big of a difference but it sure the heck is.

Nah, I keep my German to myself. With how some of them are around pools I do not want people to think I am a crazy German tourist (young girls old enough to be wearing tops and bottoms running around naked, but too young to have those type of thoughts, and a man taking pictures of them from the corner, yeah I rather not be mistaken). However it was fun watching them all...it did make me feel like I was in Europe. Probably also why I left a big tip although diner was only so so...I knew the poor waiter was getting the shaft from them all.

Modette,  I missed this post first time around.  Great ride report and photos.  You are the man riding through Death Valley in July.  I drove an old Ford van through there in July a few years ago and had a hell of a time keeping it from boiling over.  I plan on doing a trip through AZ and Utah in May and your maps and photos were very helpful.  Thanks.
