Check the websire for exact info.

The place has a dining room overlooking the mountains. Definately a prime place to stop for a meal. Try and hit it slightly off meal time and get a table by the windows. It was worth waiting a bit for such a table.

There were enough bikes parked in the motel lot to indicate that the motor lodge is nice although we didnt stay there. There is a campground about .10 mile south of the place.

Sometimes while dining in such a place, I will keep an eye on the door and invite bikers to join me at the table. Or I will leave word with the host/hostess that I will be glad for such company if it doesn't interfere with the hostess's job. Long ago there used to be a tradition that travelers would dine together for the conversation. Some riders can't be bothered with such an idea. Its one of my favorite pleasures of travel when I get to do it. I would like to see a 'bikers' table' in such a place. A biker could ride in and sit down to some pot luck stories, conversation, and good grub. I will bet you that such a table would hardly ever be empty in such a place as the Pisgah Inn.

RE: Mt. You either like this kind of adventure or you don't. I, unabashedly, do.

Recently, I stayed at Two Wheels Only Motorcycle Lodge. The roads around there are great. The owner, GT, makes a pretty good egg 'scramble' at breakfast. Its a campground mostly and very inexpensive. Visit the website. It suited me to a tee. If you are packing a pillion who does not like to 'rough it', be sure to visit and maybe have food. I was there in the middle of the week and there was no event going on. The bikers that I talked to were great. I wholeheartedly recommend it. And if you don't like it, I don't care.

Here is a note for you bike campers. State Park campgrounds usually have showers. National Park campgrounds usually do not. You might want to know that before you sign up and pitch your tent.
Also, at the Fontana Dam in the Great Smokie Natl. Park, you can get a free shower. The dam provides a free shower for Applachia Trail hikers. There is no attendant or anything. Just open the door and have at it. Bring your own towel, etc. I have no idea what you are supposed to do with your gear/clothing. There are no hooks or lockers. Just a pair of benches to sit on while you get your boots off. Separate facilities for the genders. If there is another legit free shower in the country, I would like to know about it?

RE: Mt. Magazine Lodge, Arkansas

If anyone is in the Gatlinburg, TN area and would like some privacy, try a log cabin. The prices are reasonable, less than $100.00 a night in the low season for a 1 bedroom to over $1000.00 for 11 bedrooms per night. For that most have a hot tub on the deck, a grill, pool table or foosball and the best thing, privacy. We have used Patriot rentals several times and couldn't be happier with the facilities.
http://patriotgetaways.com/
This is a good base for exploring the Smokey Mtn. Park, Blue Ridge Parkway and of course the Dragon. The Gatlinburg area has lots of nightlife with a hillbilly theme for those that enjoy that, shopping and lots of other entertainment options. There are lots of dining options as well, don't miss the Old Mill or the two diners, one in Sevierville and one in Pigeon Forge.

RE: Mt. Magazine lodge a couple of time now, the rooms are great and the pool also. I did find the food in the dinning room not to my liking though. The restaurant itself is fine, only the food was not for me. The Queen Willemena food is great, with good pricing. They usually have a breakfast and supper buffet.

RE: Mt. On the road is about distance and I went for mom and pop places where you can park the bike right outside the door. Personal best: Ranch Motel in Salina, Utah, $32. Then I started to realize you can't be too sure of these places and I've got an expensive bike out there. You don't sleep quite as soundly.

Here's one you can sleep easy at:

http://www.easy-finder.com/brochures/oregontrail/

The Oregon Trail Motel in Baker City OR. It's off Interstate I-84 in Eastern Oregon. The area is near the Snake River and Hell's Canyon.

The "O.T." is nothing fancy, but it's clean, and $36 a night for a single. They have a good cafe right there and you get $1 off on your breakfast if you're staying there. Sunday get the buffet.

With 54 rooms it's a good place to stay if you're a large group. I was there with the Sport Touring.net group and they treated us very well, even giving us buckets and rags to spiff up our rides at the end of the day. A family runs it and they were all very nice.

It's walking distance from downtown Baker City and a good brew pub/restaurant and the much more posh and historic Geyser Grand Hotel.

RE: Mt. The winter rate, Dec-Feb. for the 1 bedroom 2 person room is $89 there are four season rates the summer being the higest at $129for the same room. It is a beautiful place as OHG says. Had lunch there a couple of weeks ago. As he says it is great riding in Arkansas

RE: Mt. Then I started to realize you can't be too sure of these places and I've got an expensive bike out there. You don't sleep quite as soundly. The next day I got stuck coming into SF and wound up at a Holiday Inn right at the mouth of the Pasific Coast Highway going north. I ususally avoid those types of places like the plague but it was late and I was tired so I stopped. Guess what, I slept alot better which made the trip up the coast a whole lot more relaxed. I find if you go into the big, fancy inn at the state park at say 8-9P sometimes they still have rooms from last minute cancelations and/or no shows. My favorite thus far was the game lodge at Custer State Park, ND. You weave thru the hills and buffalo until you come to this valley were and honest to god 1920 lodge sits. A single costs something like $95 in season and you can sit on the great big front porch in a rocking chair smoking a cigar and drinking beer as you watch the sun set on the hills. Heaven.

RE: Mt. Magazine Lodge, Arkansas

The website lists the pricing guide. Its very reasonable but I didn't mention price because there are so many variables such as when you go; foliage season is higher, Sunday thru Thursday is cheaper than weekends etc. We were there on a Friday night and the rate was $159 for a top floor room, balcony, king-size bed and two-person jacuzzi that you could relax in and look out over the balconey into the valley and it was situated so you have privacy while doing so.

As I get more time I'll try to post more from this area. A quick search will bring-up several more of my favs such as Queen Wilhemena Lodge in the Winding Stair Mtns of Arkansas and Big Cedar in southern Missouri.

RE: Mt. Consider this the offical place to post the good motels. Tell us a little about the place and please include an idea of the rates. At any rate here is one of our favorites in the California sierras It's on Highway 49 in Sierra City. The property has been in the same family since before the gold rush and has a 130 year old barn. The facilities are nice and they are clean but not plush...no hot tubs here. Rooms on the river are about $100. The staff is great and the drinking water is the best.. www.herringtonssierrapines.com

RE: Mt. I am sure that with a in room jacuzzi they are not real cheap. $150 a night is reasonable but this last summer prices were very high all over. I saw rooms like this going for $200 to $300 a night out east.

Mt. Now that I've stayed at the lodge I can add my recommendation to the accomadations. Try to get a room on the 3rd floor, which features spectacular scenery overlooking Blue Mtn Lake. The rooms with king bed features a 2-person jacuzzi tub and other ammenities expected in a nice room. The restaurant features high ceilings with huge rustic log beams and fantastic views. The indoor pool also overlooks the valley below. Same way with the exercise room.

Here is the website:

http://www.mountmagazinestatepark.com/lodge-cabin-rest/lodge/

A cycle hangout just a few miles from the lodge is Shirleys Outback located a few miles north of the visitor center on Hwy 309.
