MCN is part of a group of magazines that include, if I'm not mistaken, a dog or pet magazine also. Obviously the poster got into the wrong forum.

I am proud of my fellow forum members for not belittling the poster and showing their ignorance by posting comments like..."sure, we all love dogs. We love them boiled, baked, fried, grilled, blackened, kippered, etc."

It's good that no one was stupid enough to post those kind of comments.

SWMBO has recently aquired a Cavalier King James Spaniel puppy. No, I do not want to know what this has cost me so far. But I will bet that I could have bought 5-6 sets of bikes tires for the same price and been much happier? We finally manage to get the kids out of the house about 10yrs ago. And last year, we managed to end dog ownership. For a while there, our domicile was inhabited by human adults. And the domicile reflected such adult occupancy. No locks on cabinet doors, no kiddie or doggie clutter under foot, no knock-you-to-your-knees pungent odors upon arriving home and entering the place. Now I find myself back in the primordial soup of real life again. SWMBO crashed sans ATGATT while stepping over a low puppy gate in a doorway. So we had to go to pet supply store to buy really expensive gates that we shouldn't need in 6 mos when the puppy should be mostly online with the carpola & obedience routine. Yes, I knew that I would not have my house back for a long time. But I wished that it would have been mine for longer than 9 months. While there was some satisfaction in getting rid of all the accumulated dog carpola from the previous aminals, the idea of having to go and buy more of it for the new canine really frosts me.

So. I am in the pet supply mart getting gates when I see Harley Davidson branded chew toys in the dog aisle.

Responding to a 5 year old post... lol Surely there must be other riders who are dog lovers. I'm a newbie, recently bought a Rebel from a tiger trainer at a local theme park. (I love saying that.) I'm enjoying riding my Rebel so much, and am looking for my next bike. I would like my husband to join me, but he hasn't shown much interest so far, partly because our dog Jack would have to spend time alone, unless we can come up with a means for taking him along on rides. Jack weighs 80 pounds, so it would not be easy. We would need a trike to carry him. I'm not convinced that dogs even want to ride, though they don't like being left behind either. It's noisy and windy, and bugs and flying rocks hit riders with regularity, whether they are wearing protective clothing or not. My riding buddy used to take her two small dogs on the back of her Honda PC in a plastic crate, on the freeways in Arizona! I wonder, though, would the dogs have preferred to stay at home, or at least to have had better riding accommodations.
